P.B.I.S. Is Coming to CCES!

Dear Families,

At Cumberland County Elementary School, we are proud to announce that we are implementing the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) system at our school.  This is a nationally used school-wide behavior system that rewards students for following our school’s expectations, and celebrates great behavior throughout the year.  Research shows that as positive behaviors increase, so does academic success.  We are very excited about bringing this framework to CCES!

Students will now be able to earn “Duke Dollars” for making positive choices, which can be cashed in for fun activities and rewards.  Also, students who do not receive any school or bus referrals during each nine-week period will be invited to participate in a “Big Event” at the end of each quarter.

The students will participate in a Kick-Off Event on February 2, 2015, during which time they will learn the school’s new motto, as well as practice the behavioral expectations throughout the school.  We will end with a pep rally to get our school “pumped up” about great behavior!

The theme for the Kick-Off is “Cumberland Goes Hollywood: Great Behavior Makes the A-List.”  As part of the celebration, we are asking students and staff to dress up in their best Hollywood style!  Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Hollywood celebrity, or in their most glamorous outfit.  We can’t wait to see our students walk down the “red carpet” of success!

We look forward to working with the families of CCES as we implement this wonderful program!  For more information about PBIS, visit www.pbis.org

Thank you for your support!

With great joy,

CCES Faculty & Staff
